– Driverless cars pull up at UK airport

London, England – What could public transport look like in the future? One idea being tested at Heathrow Airport is a network of personal driver-less pods. Gliding along tracks, these pod cars will take passengers non-stop to their destinations, cutting down on congestion and pollution. If they’re a success, we could see pod cars in cities all around the world, says the company behind the scheme.

The Heathrow PRT is the world’s first, designed to make passenger journeys quicker and reduce congestion on airport roads. It consists of 21 low-energy, battery-powered, driverless vehicles capable of carrying four passengers.
